13G/20B Swapped FC3S

Many years in the making, this project has finally become a reality. The 13G engine was a non production Le Mans race engine build by Mazda Factory Racing for the early Group C 757 and Lola T88/40. Mazda was defined by the development of rotary-powered prototypes, culminating in the 787B becoming the first Japanese car and only rotary engine to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991. Starting in 1983, Mazdaspeed competed in the Junior (C2) class, progressing through models 717C, 727C, and 737C, before challenging for top-tier honors with the 757, 767, and 787 in the late 1980s. In the late 90s I was captivated by my brother's Mazda RX7 FC. (He also has a red one). I remember distinctly how cool the car was, the equalizer, the subwoofers, his collection of CDs including Beat Dominator and 2 Unlimited. It was an era that shaped who I am today. By 2003 I bought my own FC, a 1988 GXL (S4) and continued to hold onto the dream of that car with years of tinkering, turboing, and microteching. In 2010 I bought a rolling chassis out of Winnipeg MB that eventually would be used in this project and pulled the motor from the GXL. I tackled that engine pull in my driveway with a friend. The GXL was regretfully crushed after the engine was pulled and by 2021 I decided it was time to step it up. After a decade of love the S4 engine was pulled and went into a 94' 240sx. And the 13G RX7 project began. This project actually required me purchasing two 13G eccentric shafts. The first one I regretfully sent to Chips Motorsports and I quickly learned Instagram posts can mislead you in believing someone is an "expert". Chips response to me was "what am I going to do" after he removed material from the shaft (destroying it's usefulness) and not sizing the bearing to fit the shaft. No refund, no admission of wrongdoing. Anyways - Spilt milk, and a paperweight. We took the unique, and (thanks to Chips - increasingly) rare eccentric shaft and placed it at the heart of our 20B engine. Adam from Rotary Engine Canada (REC) helped assemble the engine sourcing a new condition 13G E shaft, and installing the 20b to a CD009 Nissan 6 speed transmission using a supplied kit. (Adam's & Mike's expertise and support through the project has been instrumental!) Jessie w/ Titan Fabrication out of Calgary AB did the front end tube frame work and installed a Ronin Speedworks Ford 8.8 Rear end kit. Thank you to our sponsors and those who helped contribute to the project. It's been many years in the making and I'm excited to showcase this very unique build.

Toyota MR2 Rev5 TurboFeatured

Toyota MR2 Rev5 Turbo

1998 Toyota MR2 Rev5 Turbo, imported from Japan. Factory colour is "Cosmos Blue", which despite the name is actually a rare purple, similar to what the US market called Mika Purple. Currently sitting at around 330hp with a host of modifications, running on white wheels. I've owned this car for years and it's been a constant project, engine out for a clutch, full engine bay strip down and repaint, paintwork correction on 28-year-old factory paint, silicone hose replacements, and plenty more still to come. It's my second MR2 Turbo (the Rev2 before it sadly lost the battle with rust), so I know these cars inside and out. This project documents everything: the teardowns, the late nights, the parts that don't fit, and the bolts Toyota hid in places no human hand should reach.
